SEO Success Requires a Humans First Approach

When it comes to SEO success, we all want to rank on the first page of Google or Bing. However, it’s getting harder and harder to grab that top ranking because competition is getting heavier every day.

So how can you ramp up your SEO success to stand out from your competitors and come out on top? If you’re looking for more traffic to your website and more engagement on your content (which, let’s be honest, we all want), you’ll want to consider SEO as more than just throwing some keywords into your content.

Let’s take a look at what needs to be considered to boost SEO success in our copywriting:

SEO success starts with creating worthwhile content

Before you even consider SEO-rich keywords, you have to be sure you’re making content that your audience actually cares about. Content should always be created with a specific purpose, and that purpose needs to be helping your audience find answers for their pain points.

Be careful you don’t regurgitate over-used topics that your readers have already read dozens of times. Content lacking in creativity and originality won’t be interesting to them, and in turn won’t help your SEO success one bit.

Keep content consistent

While each article or blog post on your website might have unique keywords, it’s important to consider the bigger picture. What are the most SEO-rich keywords for your website as a whole? Knowing those keywords, and using them intentionally in new pieces of content, will strengthen your search engine ranking for your entire website.

Use keywords strategically

Some may tell you to put as many keywords in your content as you possibly can. Don’t listen to them. This just isn’t writing well or writing smart. Keywords, like every other initiative in your organization, take strategy for SEO success.

And it’s not just about the number of keywords you’re using—it’s especially about which ones you’re using. Keywords need to appeal to readers first and foremost. Sometimes this will mean using words you might not often use when you write. It’s all about speaking the language of your audience and communicating in a way that appeals to them most.

Take traditional keywords one step further

Instead of just sticking to one-word search terms, consider using keyword phrases. Keyword phrases are when three or more words are used together for fuller, more targeted searchability and greater SEO success.

For example, let’s say there’s a business that repairs cellphones. Instead of using one keyword at a time such as “fix” or “cellphone” to increase SEO, think like the user who would be searching for this business. They are likely to type a phrase like “fix broken cellphone” in a search bar. These key phrases can get more and more specific based on the content you’re creating for your website.
